Biscuit Tin Packaging Design

Packaging design project one. We were to find a packaging that had ineffective communication and redesign it. So I chose this tin of cookies my friend's girlfriend brought me from London and remade it.

I tried to make it super british and really push the Harrods logotype. I love that old style of stacking type vertically while using tons of styles and decorative elements; you see it on those cool hand-drawn signs and stuff, so that's the inspiration here.

The actual cookies were 10 euros and they tasted ridiculous. So good..

So I'm gonna post something of mine every day. It could be doodles, it could be music, it could be a photo, it could be pretty bad, and it could be old if I'm feeling lazy but I'm gonna do it. So here we go... aaand my camera is charging so here's something from last year's design class. These are DVD covers.

The Bleed Whites

It was a privilege to be able to create this with two of my best friends this summer. This is my latest music project and we're called The Bleed Whites. Heavily inspired by all the music and people and beer around us, this was purely a labour of love. It's a garage rock/indie folk/surf sound. Please check it out and I hope you enjoy. Oh and it's free, as always.

Pixies - Doolittle Redesign

I did this for my digital design class. Staples got my labels delivered late so I got some marks knocked off for lateness. Fucking Staples, fuck them. Each square represents subject matter from their respective tracks on the album. For example, the eyeball is for Debaser, which is about an old film by Dali and Luis Bunuel... There's a famous eyeball slicing scene in it that you might have heard of.

Crackity Jones, Frank Black's schizo-gay Brazilian roommate is on the back of the sleeve. There's like 10 pages of lyrics between this and the cover, but it's pretty boring so I won't post all of them – all it is, is the icons I made with the lyrics that go with them. Here's the middle page spread with a sweet old photo of the band.

The CD label wears the hair pattern from Gouge Away, which is about the biblical story of Samson, who's mad skills comes from the power in his hair.

And finally, the back cover is Monkey Gone to Heaven, which basically is about environmental neglect.

Patience

I was going through my old material, and was diggin the stingrays idea I wrote last year. I put some vocals on it here and played it on the acoustic instead. The photo is from my trip to Taiwan; I took it in the Narita airport in Japan. Hope you enjoy the music

the thunder of the trains
the iron in the taste
the sunbaked hair on your face
the ghosts of where you once laid
the flush on your cheeks
leads me to believe
that you will be mine someday

but
i can't smell the waters that colour the spring
i don't feel the patience that held me in place

the blisters; salty and white
the patterns bloom in your eyes
the early birds take flight
the love is weak; let it die
the black in the sea
brings me to my knees
this boy is so weak inside, let him die
let him die

and
i can't find the daymoon that leads on the dark
i don't feel the patience that steadied my heart
i can't smell the waters that colour the spring
i don't feel the patience that held me in place
